It may only be June, but the heat and humidity are in full force all around Loudoun County. Have you begun to notice your home isn’t as cool as it once was? Your energy efficient HVAC unit may be losing some of that efficiency if it hasn’t be properly maintained.
REGAIN THAT EFFICIENCY
Normal wear and tear on your system can decrease its efficiency regardless of the brand system you have. The good news is, it isn’t hard, time-consuming or expensive to regain some of that whether you have a Carrier, Mitsubishi or Lennox unit.
Be sure to change your filters regularly. Dirty filters are found throughout Leesburg, Ashburn and Purcellville when we are on our maintenance calls. A dirty filter forces a unit to work harder than it needs to. A trip to the local home improvement store and a few dollars, and you are on your way!
Walk around your home and ensure that toys, drapes or furniture aren’t blocking your vents. If they are, relocate the items so that cool air has the ability to flow freely.
Head outdoors and take a look at the outdoor condensing unit. Ensure that there is no debris around the unit. Additionally, cut back landscaping so it is at least a foot away from the unit. Air needs to be able to flow in through the sides of the unit to effectively cool the coil. If it can’t, your coil could burn out resulting in a costly service call.
