That 20+ mile an hour wind that we saw on Thursday brought with it some beautiful weather. From the looks of the forecast, the next ten days will see temperatures in the mid 70s and high 60s. I hate to get ahead of myself and start packing away the winter supplies, but this hasn’t exactly been the coldest weather we have ever seen. As we prep for warmer weather, it is important to have HVAC repair and maintenance on your list of priorities.

Since the weather was constantly changing from extremely warm to extremely cold every other day, chances are that your HVAC system took a beating this year. Switching from heat to AC weekly can put strain on your heating and cooling system and it is likely that you will need HVAC repair and maintenance before summer hits.

So what does Climatic Heating and Cooling do for HVAC Repair and Maintenance?

A few of the regular steps we take in the spring to ensure your heating and cooling systems are working properly are:

  • Checking Freon Levels
  • Clearing Drain Line
  • Adjust Blower Belt
  • Adjusting Dampers for Summer Mode
  • Take Delta T
  • Changing Filters
  • Test Safety Switches

Again, these are only a few of the things we inspect during our HVAC repair and maintenance visits. But when you register for regular maintenance, we perform thorough inspections during the fall to prep for winter, and spring to prep for summer. This ensures that your home’s heating and cooling systems will be in prime condition for the warmest and coldest months of the year. You can be at ease knowing that you did everything you needed to for your system’s HVAC repair and maintenance needs.

Being prepared for the year’s hardest months of weather means keeping your home cool during the summer and warm during the winter, and if you have ever had your heating and cooling systems break, you know the importance of regularly scheduled HVAC repair and maintenance.

Middleburg VA weather

At what point can we officially consider the winter weather to be gone? If two week’s worth of 60 degree weather doesn’t do it, then I don’t know what will. As the temperature outside increases, the temperature in homes across the country slowly decreases. And since it never really felt like winter in Northern Virginia, it seems that most folks around here will have no problem welcoming the warm summer months.

Fortunately, with the use of modern AC installation, those summer months are bearable. But where did AC come from?

The earliest forms of AC installation can be dated back to 1758.

Benjamin Franklin was one of the first to test the modern AC by using evaporation methods to extract the heat from various liquids. While his discovery never quite formed itself into real air conditioning, it did pave the way for AC installation and future inventors. In 1820, Michael Faraday use cooled ammonia as a form of air conditioning, but when his main financial backer passed away, he was left penniless and the pursuit of domestic AC installation would be left untouched for another 50 years.

Finally in 1902, Willis Carrier created the first working AC unit and installed it in a printing plant to help control the quality of his paper and the consistency of his ink. As demand grew for AC installation, The Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America was born, and the 1950s saw a surge in modern AC installation across America.

Modern AC installation has come a long way since the 1900s and continues to evolve into more efficient and more powerful methods of cooling. Call Climatic Heating and Cooling today to prepare your home for summer. From the look of it, the weather is only going to get warmer from here and the last thing you want to do in the summer is to relive the 1900s.

It looks like Northern Virginia is about to hit another warm stretch in the weather this week. It’s still morning time here and already the temperature is hovering around 52 with a high of 59 today. Did I mention a high of 69 tomorrow? I woke up this morning to find that the temperature in my house had been shifted down to 68 degrees. As the temperature continues to climb, it is a great reminder to prepare for the warmer weather with proper air conditioner installation and maintenance.

Air Conditioner Installation

Every summer I am reminded why air conditioner installation is so crucial. All it takes is one hot summer day spent outside and that moment when I open the door to my house. The cold air hits me like a ton of bricks and I love every minute of it. Of course, I, like most of you, have experienced walking into a house when the air conditioner was either broken or turned off. The heat from outside traps itself in the house and creates what feels like an oven. The humidity alone makes the house feel like it’s even hotter inside than it is outside. And that is why AC maintenance is so important.

AC Maintenance

Having regularly scheduled AC maintenance is absolutely necessary. Maintaining a comfortable environment for you and your family requires upkeep of all of your home’s appliances, systems, exterior, etc. Your air conditioning unit is no different. In order to function properly, your AC unit needs maintenance throughout the year. Without the proper AC maintenance, you run the risk of having your unit break during the hottest summer months. And living in Northern Virginia, it seems like the hottest summer months can come at any time – even if it’s not summer at all.

Call Climatic Heating and Cooling for air conditioner installation and AC maintenance. We’re happy to help you prepare your home for the weather ahead!
Family

A few weeks ago I wrote about the difference between home furnace installation and heat pump installation. If for some reason, you have yet to decide which heating system is best for your home, now is the time to decide. The weather reports are calling for the possibility of snow on Sunday throughout Loudoun County and possibly counties such as Prince William and Fairfax. I doubt that the accumulation will be anything too significant (if there is any accumulation at all), but I and every weatherman in existence has been wrong before.

Hopefully your Valentine’s Day wasn’t spent shivering in a cold home. Heat pump or furnace installation is a necessity when it comes to providing a warm – and safe – environment for you and your family. As the weather gets a little colder, which it will if snow is coming, having the proper heating system installed in your home can prevent the pipes in your home from freezing, breaking and creating an enormous inconvenience and financial burden. Heat pump installation or home furnace installation is absolutely vital.

If you currently have a heat pump or home furnace installed that may be on its last leg, you are taking the risk of having it break at any given moment. When your heating system goes under a lot of stress as you crank up the heat during colder times, your old heat pump or furnace struggles to keep up. Having your heat pump or home furnace break could leave you and your family in a freezing home during the coldest days of the year. Not to mention that you run the risk of having your home’s critical pipes break.

Call Climatic Heating and Cooling today and your heat pump installation or home furnace installation will be taken care of promptly and professionally. Don’t let the weather outside become the weather inside.

Weather affects everything in our lives: food in grocery stores are based on season, our morale can soar with warmer weather, and of course, our bills are affected by the way we use our heating and cooling systems.

Weathermen and women are responsible for relaying the weather’s current and future behavior to millions of Americans each day. Regardless of what the weather may be, our heating and cooling systems take a pounding each year and will ultimately require a little HVAC repair and maintenance.

I began to wonder about some of Northern Virginia and Washington, DC’s record setting years in regards to weather.

  • On March 6, 1962, Big Meadows, VA saw the greatest 24-hour snowfall in Virginia’s history with 33 inches.
  • The “high single storm snowfall” title also goes to Big Meadows, VA, in January of 1996 with 48 inches.
  • The greatest monthly snowfall was in February of 1899 in Warrenton, Virginia, at 54 inches.
  • The greatest seasonal snowfall was in Wise, VA, during the 1995-1996 season at 124.2 inches.

To put all those outrageously high numbers into perspective, at its deepest point, 2010’s “Snowmageddon” only brought in 38 inches. Although this has been an unseasonably warm winter, being stranded without having the proper heating and cooling installation can leave you in deep trouble. The same goes for HVAC repair and maintenance. Getting your system serviced will help prevent and outage at a critical moment during the winter months. HVAC repair and maintenance can truly be a lifesaver.

Call Climatic Heating and Cooling Systems for all of your heating and cooling installation needs as well as your HVAC repair and maintenance needs. With incredibly deep snowfalls happening spontaneously in Northern Virginia, you never know when you’re going to need a reliable heating system the most.

If the past two days have taught me anything, it’s that the weather is the complete opposite of what I plan for. During the winter I plan for winter weather – and that means low temperatures, snow and cranking up the heat in my car and house. But this winter, and the near 70 degree weather VA and the DC metro area have seen so far, reminds me of summer.

Air conditioning (AC) is usually the last thing on my mind this time of year. I love the warmth of a home during winter, but everything is a little out of whack around Northern Virginia in 2012. Cherry trees in Washington, DC are already blooming.

However, it is already February and consistent warm weather is just around the corner. This is the perfect time for AC installation and AC maintenance. Preparing a month or two early for summer heat by having a new AC unit installed or having AC maintenance done on an existing unit can be an incredibly wise investment.

Servicing or installing an AC unit can benefit you for several reasons:

  • Being Prepared: By having your AC unit installed or performing AC maintenance, you will always be prepared for when the heat of summer strikes. And since the weather has been so inconsistent this year, warm weather could hit at any time.
  • Beat the Rush: Once the temperatures starts rising, everyone will be calling in for AC installation or AC maintenance. Stay at the head of the pack by scheduling your AC installation or maintenance today.
  • Preventative Repair or Replacement: Thinking that your AC unit doesn’t need maintenance is common. But when something malfunctions on the first hot day of the year, you could be left in a home that may feel hotter than it is outside.

Prepare your home now for the summer heat and beat the rush. Climatic Heating and Cooling has all of your AC installation and AC maintenance needs covered.

Last week I wrote about heat pump installation and maintenance and how it can be a convenient heating and cooling system for your home. Heat pumps can be used to both heat your home during the cold winter months, but can also be reversed to cool your home during summer. The air that heat pumps use is pulled mostly from outdoors and circulates through the heat pump and its temperature is heated or cooled based on your personal preferences.

Since the air in a heating pump is passed through a heating and cooling system that lacks natural gasses, heat pumps can, at times, reduce your heating and cooling bills. Some would argue, however, that heat pumps don’t always put out the same amount of heat that a furnace can.Home Gas Furnace Installation & Maintenance

Furnace installation is much different than heat pump installation. A home furnace operates independently as a heating system, while the heat pump is both a heating and a cooling system. Furnaces use natural gas such as propane to generate heat. Through your home’s air duct system, cold air moves through the furnace and circulates until it reaches the desired temperature. Once the air reaches that temperature, it is pushed back through your homes heating system and proceeds to warm your house.

Furnaces can be a wonderful solution to your heating needs. When dealing with natural gasses to heat your home, it is absolutely necessary to have a professional perform scheduled furnace maintenance during the year. Climatic is able to check for leaks, check the electrical connections and ensure the overall safety of your heating and cooling system as well as your home.

If you believe that home furnace installation is the right fit for your home, we have many systems to choose from. Whether you choose heat pump installation or home furnace installation, call Climatic today to consult with us and we can help you figure out the most reasonable solution to all of your heating and cooling system needs.

Winter in the Northern Virginia area has been unseasonably warm this year – not to mention completely unpredictable. Along with seeing snow in October, 60 degree weather in January and every once in a while a flurry or two, people across the region have undoubtedly been busy adjusting their thermostats. The inconsistency in the weather also brings inconsistency in your heating and cooling bills. Depending on how your home is heated and cooled, you could also find yourself servicing and maintaining two separate systems in one season which could be costly.

Heat Pump Installation and MaintenanceOne solution is heat pump installation. Heat pumps are one of the most convenient solutions to heating and cooling your home because it operates as one system. Your heat pump operates in an extremely efficient manner because it doesn’t use fuel to heat your home. It simply transfers heat that it pulls from the air or ground. This is one of the main reasons that having a heat pump installed in your home can save you money on your monthly bill. It also means that you only have one system that requires maintenance and service instead of two separate heating and cooling solutions for your home. Heat pump installation is an ideal solution to your heating and cooling needs if you live in a moderate climate such as Northern Virginia.

Once the weather warms up, heat pumps can be reversed to cool your home. Maintaining one system can make adjusting your heating and cooling needs a simple process. Heat pump maintenance and installation can be done professionally by Climatic Heating and Cooling throughout the Northern Virginia area. We conduct a site visit to ensure that installing a heat pump is the proper solution for you. We guarantee that your home will be clean or clean than it was when we first arrived. Finally, to ensure that your installation was completed to our standards, we send a manager out to inspect the system once it has been installed.

We take every step to guarantee that you are left with a comfortable home and a heating and cooling system that will keep you and your family happy. Contact Climatic Heating and Cooling today!

Snow is falling across Northern Virginia right now and for most, that means their heating system has kicked on. Your heating system has probably been dormant for some time and, since the weather has been so inconsistent lately, chances are that your heating system has not had the opportunity to run for an extended amount of time.

Performing maintenance on your heating and cooling system is a necessity as winter approaches. By the time that most people realize that there could be a problem with their HVAC systems, it is already too late. The damage could be a financial burden and could also leave you and your family without heating or cooling for an extended amount of time.

A few of the items we inspect and perform regular maintenance on can be found below:

HVAC Maintenance Checklist

• Check/Change the Filter

• Oil the Motor as Necessary

• Check for Fuel Leaks

• Check for Carbon Monoxide Leaks

• Test Safeties

• Check Electrical Connections

• …for the full list, click here.

As you can see, some of the items we check are not purely based on comfort – they are based on the safety of you and your family. Checking for fuel and carbon monoxide leaks in your heating and cooling system can save lives.

The efficiency of having regularly scheduled HVAC maintenance can be easily seen. By inspecting your systems duct work and mechanical components, we’ll be able to make sure that your home is receiving the heating and cooling that you are paying for. Home owners that do not have scheduled maintenance can often see their electric bills skyrocket while their homes continue to maintain an uncomfortable temperature. Homes often have faulty duct work that allows heat to escape, and only a fraction of the heated air you are paying for actually makes it inside the home.

By calling Climatic Heating and Cooling and scheduling HVAC maintenance, you will become a preferred service customer. You will also be able rest assured knowing that your home is ready for a long winter and that your family is safe inside.

As the holiday season approaches, Christmas and Hanukkah shopping, vacation planning, cooking and cleaning can all add up to become one incredibly overwhelming schedule.

With family coming in from out of town and friends coming over for dinners and football games, creating a comfortable space for your guests is a priority.

The holidays, of course, bring cold weather, and no one likes to be freezing cold in their own home. The heat turns on and is often forgotten. That is … until you receive your electric bill.

Why is Duct Sealing Important?

Many people find the amount on their electric bill to be staggering. Even if you have been moderating your temperature levels, you still may see a spike in the winter season. One of the reasons is that your homes duct work, most commonly found in the attic or basement, wasn’t sealed properly when it was constructed.

As the warm air circulates through your home’s air ducts, the poor sealing and construction allows the air to escape through the cracks before it ever reaches the interior rooms of your home. Heating your home can be expensive and when only a fraction of the air is actually making it into the house, your heating system has to do twice the work to maintain your desired temperature.

Although we have had a warm winter so far in Northern Virginia, the weather will cool down in no time. Before you turn your heating bills get out of control this winter, let Climatic Heating and Cooling check your home’s duct work to ensure you’re not overpaying this winter season. We will do a thorough inspection of your heating and cooling systems and seal the cracks around the duct’s joints and braces where warm air typically escapes.

Duct Sealing and General Heating and Cooling System Maintenance

In addition to inspecting and sealing your home’s duct system, it is wise to schedule general maintenance this time of year. Not only will we find and correct problems with your current heating and cooling system, but it will also save you financially in the long run. Having a critical piece of your heating system break during winter can be extremely costly and can put your family in an uncomfortable situation that can last days or even weeks depending on the severity of your system’s problem.

Call Climatic today, because the last thing you need to worry about this holiday season is a massive electric bill or an ice-cold home.
